Looking Back at 2021

In 2021, Baird Capital embraced opportunity despite uncertainty driven by the ongoing pandemic. Our team continued focusing on our thesis-driven investment strategies, deploying capital across our funds through nine new investments and 18 follow-on investments. We also distributed an aggregate of $190 million back to our investors.

2021 Investment Activity 

We are pleased to share the following investment highlights from 2021:  

Global Private Equity – Strong Momentum and Growth

• We completed fundraising for our second Global Fund with more than $340 million in committed capital.
• Our global private equity team completed three new platform investments and four follow-on investments deploying $122 million, including one deal that closed shortly after year-end.
• We completed the successful exits of Prescient and Collingwood, generating over $160 million in proceeds.

Venture Capital – Another Record Investment Year 

• We deployed a record $60 million in six new platforms and 14 follow-on investments, exceeding our previous record of $57 million deployed in 2020.
• The team continued its focus on and backing of high-quality management teams, as evidenced by ChurnZero and HSP Group.

Recent Promotions & Team News

Our 2021 performance was the result of our team’s collaboration and leadership. To that end, we are excited to highlight the following news:

• The recent promotion of Dan Almon to Principal within our Global Private Equity group. 
• Louise Kingston has joined our London office as a Director on the Global Portfolio Operations team.
• Joanna Arras, a Partner on our Venture team, being named a Top 40 Under 40 Growth Investor by GrowthCap Advisory.
